Built for shutdown timelines, not tourist ones

Eskom shutdowns don't run on standard hospitality hours. Crews arrive in waves, work twelve-hour shifts, and rotate in and out as the scope shifts. Accommodation has to keep up, without becoming another problem on the project manager's list.

Rusty Estate is set up for exactly this. We've hosted shutdown teams across Mpumalanga's main power stations, and the operation behind the scenes, bookings, check-ins, invoicing, security, support, is shaped around how these projects actually run.

How we work alongside the project

Mobilisation

Block your rooms before the gates open

Most shutdowns are scoped weeks in advance. We hold room blocks for confirmed dates, lock in the rate, and confirm any special requirements, staggered arrivals, late check-ins for night crews, dedicated parking, or invoicing routed to a head office account.

If your scope grows after booking, we'll do our best to add rooms close to your original block so the team stays together.

Execution

Quiet, secure, and ready when the shift ends

While the shutdown is running, the unit needs to do one job well: let your crew sleep, eat, wash up, and reset. Self-catering kitchens, separate lounges, working Wi-Fi, backup power, and on-site laundry mean a full day on site doesn't end with another set of errands.

Day shift, night shift, or split rotation, the estate stays calm and access stays controlled around the clock.

Demobilisation

Flexible exits as scope winds down

Shutdowns rarely end exactly on the planned date. Some teams roll off early; others stay an extra few days for snags and handover. We work with that, extending or shortening stays where we can, and keeping the closing invoice clean for the project office.
